Our Misson
SCANN is an alliance of community based organizations, faith-based organizations, businesses, groups, volunteers and individuals. The Corporation will collaborate to develop, improve, empower and, maintain quality and effective programs in our community. The corporation invites all block clubs, community Corporations, government organizations, businesses and individuals in the State of Michigan to receive and provide assistance to enhance communities. The Corporation is a registered 501c3 with the IRS.

Robbyn Byrd
PresidentRobbyn is a wife and mother of 6 children, grandmother of 14 and has 2 great grandchildren. She retired from General Motors after 19 years of service. She attends Burning Bush International Ministries and serves as an Usher and is on the Mother Board under the leadership of Bishop Don W. and Lady Bonita A. Shelby. Robbyn is a creative play wright, has taught Character classes to elementary and junior high school students in an afterschool program. She has volunteered her time for years to hurting and oppressed woman. She has a big heart and a serious desire to help others.
Eddie Byrd
Vice PresidentEddie is a life-long resident of Ypsilanti, Michigan and is the head chauffeur for Golden Limousine International. He is dedicated to his wife and family. He has a heart for helping others and as Vice President of SCANN, he is looking to make a stellar impression on all the communities that we serve. He is a man of God and attends Burning Bush International Ministries serving as a Deacon and Usher.
Michelle Johnson
Recording SecretaryMichelle is the mother of 4 and grandmother of 6. She is married to Terry Johnson and has been for 7+ years. Currently employed at Dearborn Stamping Company she has also worked in human resources, payroll, billing and clerical support for a mortgage company. Her hobbies are: T.V., reading, traveling and spending time with family. She is a member of Agape Church located in Willis, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Reginald Freeman.

TreasurerHello, I'm Curtis A. Jackson and I grew up in a large family in the country. My wife and I raised our family in the city. I've become a happy, very smiley, excited, energetic, hardworking, loving and caring individual who loves serving and helping others. I'm a great husband according to my wife and my children say I'm the best dad and granddad in the world (that is at least in my head).
LaToya Kirkman
Media - AdvertisingLaToya is the mother of 3 children and a registered nurse. She has always been of service in the capacity of helping others and doing all that she could do to support others in their endeavors. LaToya is very creative and willing to share her ideas with others. She is a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church located in Ypsilanti, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Rodger Hill.

Self-taught in these areas, Treva has developed exceptional skills in coordinating various events and tasks, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. With strong interpersonal skills, Treva is known for being a good listener, hardworking and understanding, always striving to bring joy and satisfaction to others through her work. She takes great pride in creating experiences that make people smile.

Character Building
Character Building
Children will be taught the importance of their character. They will learn the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship) through workshops and fun activities. This program is for children ages 7-13. We believe that our children develop mindsets very early in life. We feel that we could possibly instill into them the importance of having a good reputation and Character. We believe that if we start at this age, there's a chance it will stay with them for a lifetime.
Youth On The Move
This is a program that is geared directly for our teens. We will fill them with hope and a desire to become model citizens. We hope to bridge and over take the friction between them, their parents, figures of authority, which will also include law enforcement. We hope to dismantle and dissolve gang related activities. We will encourage them to improve their appearances, attitude, and to gain respect for themselves with the hope of someday obtaining gainful employment. We will help them to build positive relationships with men and women of integrity. We will enforce education with the hope that they would stay in or return to school, improve their grades and achieve the desire to further their education after high school, whether it be college or trade school. We may even luck up on a Black College Tour!
Young Mothers and Fathers
This program is for teen parents, whether you are together or not. There are people that you can talk to one on one and or in a group setting. The conversations will start with: What do I do now? How can I get some help? I'm so tired! I'm all by myself. I can't see my baby, etc. There will be suggestions for you, formula and diapers with wipes will be available occasionally. We want to help....not judge.
Our Drama Ministry
If you like acting and can follow instructions and directions. If you like working with your hands and can build things. If you can sing and love to perform. If you are active and or creative. If you are fun-loving and have some time to volunteer.....then there's a place for you on The Benaiah Team. Yes, we are looking for a few good men, women and children to be a part of this team.
We will be putting on a play at least once a year! There is something for everyone to do and there is room for you. Our plays are about real life situations with humor, sincerity and wit. Most of the scripts are written by our own playwright however, you could submit your own or work along side with her on a project.
The Benaiah Team is a ministry that speaks through actions as we demonstrate the Word of God as well as real life experiences. Our goal is to captivate our audience, give them something to think about, make them laugh and oh yes, there will be some tears. We are hoping that they will be able to see themselves on the stage. We are very passionate about the work that we do and have performed with up to 500 people in attendance. We would love to have you join us!
Parents of Locked Up Children
This program is geared toward helping the parents of incarcerated children (regardless of their age) to cope with their emotions about it in a monthly discussion manner. To offer encouragement, comfort and in some cases, help with information or options to assist in getting a new court date, attorneys or support.
Home...Now What?
This program is designed for men and women who are home from jail or prison. It is a place for communication, to gain knowledge, learn how to settle in. There will be avenues for instructions, employment, coping skills, etc.
Tutoring
Volunteers will donate their time to help students in need. Donated desktop computers and chrome books will be available. We ask that all the students bring their homework with them. There will be time slots to sign-up for this program.
Know Your Rights!
This program will keep We The People informed on the status of our voting rights, what's going on at the Capitol and all the things that We The People should know and what we should be doing. The Constitution will be discussed as well as new laws and proposals that are on the table. What this program is not is a debating session. Knowledgeable speakers will come and share with us as a group of concerned citizens.
Sponsorships
We have developed a few levels of sponsorships that would help us to reach our goals annually.
Level One:
$2,500.00 annually
This would allow us to run our programs effectively throughout the year with office supplies and equipment, paper materials, books, laptops as well as printed advertisements for our programs and events, which does include our annual stage play through our drama ministry, The BENAIAH Team.
Level Two:
$5,000.00 annually
This will enable us to address any outstanding cost of workshops, meetings, venue rentals and accommodate professional facilitators by way of stipends for their services.
Level Three:
$15,000.00 annually
The most prestigious level! This level will allow us to obtain a venue with the yearly cost of rent and utilities. This venue will be used for our meetings, workshops, seminars, rehearsals, tutoring sessions, as well as a meeting place for the youth and other events. It will also help finance our annual Black Tie Gala.
Level Four:
$20,000.00
This level of donation will allow us to give four (4) deserving students, that have met our qualifications academically, a $5,000.00 scholarship toward any college, community college, or trade school of their choice to continue their education. These scholarships will be in the name of your company and SCANN. Each student will qualify only one time for this scholarship.
With each level of sponsorship your name and logo will be included on our printed materials, booklets, programs, back drops and also mentioned during meetings, workshops and events. Or, you can elect to remain a silent sponsor.
All your donations may be a tax write off for you.

Donate
Here you can donate any amount. With these donations, we will be able to continue to serve the communities with their personal needs. There are times when diapers run short, formula run out and the fact that some of our babies do not have beds to sleep in, we would like to provide beds for them. We will be able to give toiletries and personal items to the homeless and homeless shelters. It is our desire to be able to provide a Thanksgiving Dinner for a family that normally wouldn't have the means to do so, as well as providing a Christmas to a family with gifts, toys and food. Including families in domestic violence housing and shelters. We would also be able to supply those men and women that are newly discharged from jail or prison with personal items as well.
As previously mentioned, SCANN is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization with the IRS. All your donations may be a write off for you.
